Dear Families,

In order to continue to provide the excellent care that our patients need in this time, we are making some changes in our office during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  We understand the apprehension that parents may feel at this time of uncertainty.  It is our hope that the measures we are taking can help alleviate some of your fears or concerns.  While adapting to these changes in our office, we ask for your patience and understanding.  Our goal at Shining Star Pediatrics is to continue to be here for our patients and to provide exceptional care.

  1. In our office, we are intensely cleaning all surfaces, as per the CDC guidelines, with hospital grade disinfectant wipes and sprays.  We will have hand sanitizer available in the office and we ask that you use that before, during and after your visit.

  2. In an effort to prevent the spread of illness, we have temporarily removed all toys from our waiting room and exam rooms.

  3. We will be making schedule changes to have well checks, inclusive of ADHD medication checks and follow-ups, preferably in the mornings and all sick visits will be scheduled in the afternoon.  Adjustments can be made on an individual basis. We can also reschedule well/ADHD visits if needed.

  4. We are separating well patients from sick patients. We now have designated rooms for well and sick visits.

  5. In an effort to practice social distancing, we need to minimize the number of people coming into the office with the patient. We know and understand that many schools are closed and this could be difficult.  We appreciate your cooperation on this.

  6. At this time, we ask that you check in at the front desk, then wait in your vehicle with your child.  We will let you know when to bring your child into the office and we will take you straight back to your room.  We want to limit the number of people in our waiting room.

  7. Currently, we do not have the means to test for COVID-19.  If you think you have been exposed, please call the office first. We will then direct you to where and what you can do based on the guidelines provided by the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics.

  8. We are currently exploring other options, such as telemedicine, to be able to treat our patients should the situation arise.  Please contact our office to activate your patient portal.

We want to also remind everyone to please stay home and avoid nonessential trips.  This time out of school is meant for social distancing and to help flatten the curve.  Please limit your social interaction and practice good hand washing skills. This is an evolving situation, please remain calm and we will keep you updated.
